Frequently asked questions

Questions about the queue

What does it cost to be on the municipal housing queue?

Boplats Växjö is a municipal housing agency, and it currently costs SEK 100 per year to remain in the queue. The fee must be paid from the year that you turn 20. If you do not pay, you will lose your place in the queue and your queue points will be reset. These cannot be recovered against payment.

The student housing queue is free of charge. When registering for student housing you will be automatically registered in the family housing queue one year free of charge. If you do not want to be registered in the family housing queue, simply ignore the invoice and you will be automatically removed.

Where can I find my queue points?

Log on to My Pages at Boplats Växjö. Under My Profiles, you can view the different queues (Housing, Student Housing and Parking Space) and how many points you have in each queue. The points are placed under the heading “Queue points”.

Can I combine my queue points with someone else, and can I transfer my points?

Your queue points are personal, and you cannot combine them with anyone else’s points. The points cannot be transferred to another person, either.

I have been admitted to the university, but I am blocked in the queue - what should I do?

If you have been accepted to the Police Academy (Polishögskolan), Higher Vocational Education (HVE) or if you are an international student, you can upload your acceptance letter yourself. Go to My Pages and click on Upload Files under the Certificates tab.

If you have been accepted to another course of study and you have a Swedish social security number, your application will be registered with us automatically. If you have been accepted but are still on the waiting list, upload your certificate through My Pages. Click on Upload Files under the Certificate tab.

Can I receive priority for a flat?

No priority is given in the housing queue. The housing company issues Växjö Municipality a certain quota of flats that can be given to people with disabilities and need special accessible flats, or need a flat for socioeconomic reasons. Contact Växjö Municipality if you fall under one of these categories.

Do I need to reactivate myself in the queue after receiving a flat?

If you are in the family housing queue and sign a rental agreement, you will automatically be reactivated in the family housing queue. Your queue points are recalculated depending on how many points the applicant behand you in the queue have. You who get an apartment via marketplace directly will not lose any points.

If you are in the student housing queue and sign a rental agreement, you must activate yourself in the student housing queue in order to continue collecting queue points.

If you get a flat via the Student Market, your queue points will be zeroed and you will need to reactivate yourself in the student housing queue if you wish to remain in the queue. However, if you obtain a flat via Student Direkt, you will keep both your time in the queue and your queue points.

Preferences

How can I change my preferences?

Log in at Boplats Växjö. Click on “Change” under “My Profiles”. A new page will open where you can edit your preferences. Remember to save the settings when you are finished.

Why haven’t I received any suggestions based on my preferences?

It can be due to various factors. You may have submitted a profile that is too restrictive, so that there are no matching flats according to your preferences. You may have forgotten to check the option “Yes, I want to be sent suggestions based on my preferences”. In order to check whether you have this marked, log in at My Pages and click on the button “Change” under “My Profiles”.

Exchange apartment

Why is the marketplace for exchanging apartments removed?

The marketplace for exchanging apartments was a part of www.boplats.vaxjo.se Since few used the marketplace and it was difficult to provide service with high quality we chose to shut down the marketplace December 31, 2018.

Is it still possible to make a direct exchange of apartments?

Yes. Växjöbostäder and Vidingehem still offer the possibility of direct exchanges.

How do I make a direct exchange?

To change the apartment, you must find someone to change with. Once you find it, you should apply for a direct exchange with your landlord. Both exchange parties must meet the requirements for direct exchange and be able to prove them. More information about direct exchange can be found at your landlord and you can read more on each website; Växjöbostäder and Vidingehem. The intention of the change should be to live permanently in the new home.

Offers

How many offers can I accept at the same time?

You can accept three offers at a time in both the family housing queue and student housing queue.

Registering your interest

How many times can I register my interest in a location?

You can register your interest a maximum of 5 times. In the student housing queue, you can register your interest three times. When the registration deadline has passed, and the application has been closed, you can register your interest again. These restrictions exist so that the rental process will not go on for longer than necessary.

Will I have a greater chance of getting a flat if I am the first to register my interest?

The time of registration only makes a difference in Marketplace Direct and Student Direct. At Marketplace Direct, the first five people who register will receive an offer to visit the desired housing. The first person who registers his/her interest and says “Yes” will get the flat.

With Student Direct, the first three people who register receive an offer to visit the desired housing. The first person who registers his/her interest and says “Yes” will get the flat.

In Marketplace, your queue points are always counted. In the family housing queue, the six people with the most queue points receive an offer to visit the desired housing. In the student housing queue, the three people with the most queue points receive an offer to visit the desired housing.

What is my place in the queue for the flat that I have registered my interest in?

To see your exact place in the queue, you are welcome to contact the housing company in question (either Växjöbostäder or Vidingehem). With Boplats Växjö, you can only see how many queue points the person in sixth place has.

Some flats have two different move-in dates - which one is applicable?

Occupation date is the last date that you can occupy the flat. Move-in possible is the earliest date that you can occupy the flat. This is because a tenant will sometimes want to move out of his/her previous flat earlier. This gives you the opportunity to select what date you want to begin occupying the flat.

Parking space

How do I search for a parking space?

To rent a parking space, click the “Activate” button in “My Profile” on the “My Pages” tab. The button will become visible once you have an active rental agreement. The customer with the most queue points will be offered an open parking space. The waiting period for the parking space queue only applies to the residential zone that you live in. If you move to another residential zone, your queue points will be zeroed, and you must reactivate yourself in the parking space queue.

What is Parking Space Direct?

The Parking Space Direct marketplace displays the parking spaces that everyone can lease, including those who are not tenants. To lease a parking space using Parking Space Direct, contact the applicable housing company.
